These are spherical collections of stars bound by gravity, at least 10 billion years old and typically spanning a hundred light years across. This series includes Messier 13, a cluster of about 300,000 stars in the constellation of Hercules, and Messier 4 in the constellation of Scorpion, one of the closest clusters to our solar system
